‘The Code'
The Code requires BOORN team members to always commit to:
Being respectful, honest, and courteous with everyone that you deal with, whether they are participants, external stakeholders, agency representatives or the general public
Exercise fairness, equality, courtesy, consideration and sensitivity in dealing with other team members, participants and suppliers
Being transparent when giving advice or making decisions to ensure all your actions can hold up to scrutiny
Respecting everyone’s right to freedom of expression, self-determination and decision-making, which we are all required to do by law and under the human rights conventions
Making sure you always give accurate and truthful information to all stakeholders
Be willing to participate and complete all tasks with best ability, using initiative to complete tasks, asking for assistance as required
Act with good intentions to the company, including no gossiping or discrimination, during and post employment
Providing prompt attention to everyone who deals with BOORN
Acting fairly, reasonably and truthfully with everyone
Recognising and respecting the different rights and values of other people
Respecting the privacy and confidentiality of people’s information and circumstances
Creating and maintaining a safe work environment that is free from abuse, violence, discrimination, harassment or victimisation
Be considerate and respectful of the environment and others.
NDIS Code of Conduct
The Code also requires BOORN team members follow the NDIS Code of Conduct and commit to always:
Respecting each individual’s rights to freedom of expression, self-determination and decision-making, as required by the law and the human rights conventions
Respecting the privacy of people with disability
Sensitively and carefully providing supports and services in a safe and competent way
Behaving with integrity, honesty and transparency
Promptly raising and acting on concerns about anything that might affect the quality or safety of the supports and services provided to people with disability
Taking all reasonable steps to prevent and also respond to any form of violence against, or the exploitation, neglect or abuse of, people with disability
Taking all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to any form of sexual misconduct
Avoiding any behaviour that could be considered unethical or dishonest.
Working with Participants, Children, Customers and Families
When dealing with participants, carers, children, families, customers and clients using our services, BOORN team members should always be:
Treating all participants with respect while being mindful of each participant’s rights to privacy and confidentiality
Actively engaged while working with participants, including eliminating personal phone use (unless required)
Ensuring the responsiveness of our service to each participant’s needs and circumstances, remembering to respect every individual’s cultural or religious sensitivities and requirements
Upholding the rights of people with disability, including their rights as participants
Helping participants make informed decisions by taking a person-centred approach with each participant and always considering their individual preferences and expectations
Ensuring that participants are provided with, and understand, all the up-to-date information relating to their situation, the options available to them and the conditions of use for the services that we can provide
Ensuring participants are told that independent advocacy is available to them if they need help or support to make decisions about any services relating to their situation
Aware of personal boundaries with participants
Making sure the environment is safe, taking all reasonable steps to avoid anything that could affect the quality or safety of the services provided to participants, remembering to treat all people with respect
Reporting to your supervisor anything that is a potential or actual risk of harm to any participant
Ensuring that no money or other gifts (over the value of $20) are accepted while providing our services. All gifts must be disclosed to management.
Standards Within the Workplace
All BOORN team members should be:
Attending work between the times agreed, notifying your supervisor of any absences, accounting for and reporting of any leave taken, recording your attendance at work, obtaining approval before changing your work times, and notifying the participant and your supervisor by phone when running late
Following the requirements of your duty statements and agreed work plans, remembering to always pay attention to the quality and detail required by your work
Providing accurate and honest information to your supervisor about the work you complete and the challenges you experienced when completing that work
Following all reasonable instructions that are lawful and within your capability and training. Bringing to a managers attention if support is required
Reporting anything that you believe is corrupt or fraudulent, remembering that you will not be punished for reporting and will be protected from anyone doing anything to you
Following our
Work Health and Safety Policy, always remembering that safety within the workplace is for everyone’s benefit
Making sure you are free from alcohol or drugs, other than those prescribed by your doctor or other medical practitioner, when you are at work
Maintaining a harmonious, co-operative and productive workplace that is respectful of diversity
Ensuring that you do not use your position to exert inappropriate influence over others.
The Way We Work
All BOORN team members should always be:
Working together towards agreed work objectives and goals and communicating regularly with one another about how you are reaching those objectives and goals
Working together to find ways of improving how work is done, and solving problems about the workplace or the way our services are provided
Giving support and guidance to each other by recognising other people’s results and achievements
Ensuring that everyone gets appropriate training and development
Communicating with honest and respect to all team members at all times.
Standards of Work
You should perform your duties to the best of your ability and at the highest level of professional conduct. You will be accountable for your work and your interactions with others.
This means that you should always make sure you are:
Accountable for what you say and the things you do
Working within the goals and objectives of BOORN
Following the rules, policies and procedures of BOORN
Acting within the law
Undertaking all your duties in a careful and thorough way
Not acting in a way that brings you or BOORN embarrassment or shame or discrimination
Mindful of your personal behaviours and how they affect other people
Working cooperatively as a member of our team
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Supporting colleagues, treating everyone with respect and courtesy
Discussing ethical concerns with your supervisor
Projecting a positive image of BOORN
Maintaining the confidentiality of every participant; and
Not absent from work without an appropriate reason.

It is a requirement that all team members provide the following details to enable contact and access the employment portal:
Full name
Phone number
Email Address
Residential Address
Secondary Contact Details
Confidentiality and Privacy
Personnel must, at all times, keep internal matters about BOORN confidential and respect the privacy of others. This includes information about participants, or their support networks who access the service.
Social Media
Team members must not at any time discuss BOORN, team members, clients, customers or participants on Social Media without prior consent of the Executive Management Team.
Should team members wish to positively promote the service, written consent must be sought from the Executive Management Team prior to publishing.
Photographs and other Media
The code of conduct also includes a request for permission to use photographs/images of team members to publicly promote “BOORN.” to the wider community.
Consent is not mandatory, and all team members are able to opt out, or change their permission at any time during their employment with BOORN.
Harassment and Bullying
Harassment and bullying are not acceptable forms of behaviour and will not be tolerated at BOORN.
Harassment and bullying are not ethical forms of behaviour as they intimidate and victimise people because of their gender, race, ethnic religious background, age, pregnancy, marital status, disability, transgender (transsexual) status or sexuality. Harassment and bullying are also against the law and human rights conventions.
Harassment and bullying can take many forms. They may be obvious or subtle, direct or indirect, and include:
Sexual or suggestive comments and gestures
Displaying, sending or showing other people sexually suggestive, offensive, degrading, or insulting material (e.g. on walls, computer screensavers, emails, or notes)
Making fun of someone, spreading rumours, or making unwelcome practical jokes
Making obscene or uncalled-for telephone calls
Sending obscene or uncalled-for letters, faxes or email messages
Getting physically too close to other people or making unnecessary physical contact
Always ignoring or dismissing the things that someone does in the workplace
Threatening, insulting, name-calling, or using other inappropriate or offensive language
Pushing, shoving, jostling, deliberately knocking, hitting or beating another person; and
Creating a hostile feeling or environment, which can happen even when there is no direct physical or verbal attacks made on or toward another person.
If you see or believe that any such behaviours are happening to you or anyone else, you should follow BOORN
Complaints and Feedback Policy. Any reports of harassment or bullying will be handled according to the
Complaints and Feedback
Policy. A grievance report must be completed.
Reporting Unethical Behaviour
If you believe that the behaviour or actions of any team members, even supervisors or manager, is not ethical or suspicious you should report it to the Executive Management Team immediately. If your concern is in relation to the Executive Management Team, then you should contact the NDIS quality and safeguards commission.
Unethical behaviour is defined as:
Workplace behaviour that does not follow this Code of Conduct or any other policies that we have for this workplace
Workplace behaviour that breaks any law, or is dishonest, ‘shady’, false or devious behaviour
Mismanagement of supplies, money, or other resources in the workplace
Behaviour that creates a danger to people’s safety, the environment or public health.
